Should I relocate a pigeon?

When dealing with pigeons, trapping and relocating is not a good option. While it may be relatively simple to trap pigeons, you have to have a plan on what to do with them after. Unfortunately, if you don't want those pigeons to come back, you have to kill them. Killing pigeons is unappealing to most people, and this is why so many individuals are tempted to try relocation. While this can potentially work for some animals, it is ineffective when dealing with pigeons. Using a homing instinct, pigeons can return to their area of roosting even after they have been driven miles and miles away. This ability to find their way back to a specific location is why pigeons were once used as correspondence carriers. Ultimately, do not try to trap pigeons. It may even be illegal in some places or may require a license. If pigeons are a problem around your buildings, consider deterrents like bird spikes, netting, or electric stripping.
